About the creator and founder

Loreto Paragas is a Registered Nurse who began his career in the Philippines, where he first practiced his profession. His journey as a nurse took him to Abu Dhabi as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) before life brought him to Canada, where he started his own family and raised two sons in a comfortable and nurturing environment.

The pursuit of greater opportunities eventually led Loreto and his family to the United States, where he and his wife are now blessed with five children—four boys and one girl. For over 20 years, they have called the U.S. home, and Loreto continues to serve as a nurse in one of the most renowned hospitals in Northern California.

Rooted deeply in his Filipino heritage—especially his Ilocano background—Loreto has always had a passion for food, particularly vinegar-based dipping sauces. Inspired by traditional flavors passed down through generations, he developed his own special vinegar recipe. At first, it was simply for personal use, but it quickly gained attention at family gatherings and celebrations, where friends and relatives praised its exceptional taste.

Encouraged by their feedback, Loreto began sharing his creation beyond his immediate circle. What started as small batches for friends soon grew into a business, with demand fueled by word of mouth and social media. Before long, requests began coming from across the U.S., the Philippines, and Canada—leading to established distribution in those countries.

Today, Suka-Imas is proudly sold in more than 30 Asian stores across Northern California, with exciting plans for expansion—possibly to a store near you.

Suka-Imas is a premium vinegar dipping sauce deeply rooted in the rich culinary traditions of the Philippines, particularly the Ilocano heritage, where vinegar-based condiments are a dining essential. The name “Suka” means vinegar in Filipino, while “Imas” is an Ilocano word meaning “delicious” or “flavorful”—a perfect reflection of this sauce’s signature taste.

The recipe was created by founder Loreto Paragas, a Registered Nurse by profession and a passionate food enthusiast. Inspired by his Filipino roots, Loreto sought to bring the bold, tangy flavors he grew up with into a versatile, all-natural vinegar sauce. His personal twist? Using apple cider vinegar as the base, which adds a naturally fruity aroma, a gentle tang, and health benefits that set Suka Imas apart from traditional blends.
